To revitalize milk production and streamline organized milk marketing in the state, the Government of Assam approved for implementation a Milk Incentive Scheme by extending incentive of Rs. 5/- per litre of milk to a maximum of 900 litres per month per farmer for the dairy farmers supplying milk through the registered Dairy Cooperative Societies or registered Farmer Organizations to milk processing units in Assam. This initiative aims to strengthen the dairy sector by ensuring sustainable milk production, efficient procurement, and enhanced organized milk marketing across Assam.
To encourage formalization of dairy sector in Assam and compensate the dairy farmers against high cost of milk production such that the locally produced milk could compete with the cheap imported milk from other States of India.
1. This initiative will encourage the farmers to join the organized sector.
2. Will help the formalization of dairy sector.
3. It will help with the revival and improving the working conditions of the existing DCS.
4. Increase the milk production of the State.
5. Increase the profitability of the farmers.
6. Make dairy farmer's produce more competitive in the market.
7. Enhancement of the capacity of the existing milk processing facilities and Establishment of new processing units in the State.
1. Farmer should be a milk pourer of a functional DCS (as per Assam Co-operative Societies Act, 2007) or registered farmer organization which is supplying milk to any designated Milk Processing Unit in Assam.
2. Farmer should have a valid bank account in operation.
3. He/she should have a valid and active mobile number for registration.
4. Farmer should have a valid Aadhar Card.
5. Subsidy/incentive will be provided for upto 30 litres per day or 900 litres per month per farmer.
